Prof. Gaoussou Camara
Prof. Gaoussou Camara received his PhD in Computer Science from the Gaston Berger University (UGB) of Saint-Louis, Senegal, and from the Pierre et Marie Curie University of Paris, France in 2013. He is currently an Associate Professor in Computer Science at the Alioune Diop University of Bambey (UADB) in Senegal. He is leading the Interdisciplinary Research Team in Medical Informatics and ICT for Education (IMTICE). Prof. Camara specializes in the management of biomedical data and knowledge. His work focuses on the design of electronic health records, hospital information systems, and health surveillance systems. He is co-founder of the National Medical Information System for Senegal (SIMENS) and the startup Pyramidal Health Information Systems (PyramidHIS), which emerged from SIMENS. From 2020 to 2024, Prof. Camara has coordinated the Digital Science and Technology Network (DSTN) of the ACE Partner project, bringing together 6 African Centres of Excellence in 4 West African countries (Benin, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Senegal) working in digital science and technology to address the challenges of digital transformation for sustainable development in Africa.
